2017-10-16 12.43.46-1.jpg

This unique event at the wonderful St Mary de Haura Church in Shoreham-by-Sea, with its great acoustics, showcases three key Sea Shanty Groups from West Sussex, seen for the first time at the same venue. Admission is free!

The performers are: The Secret Shore Singers, The Duck Pond Sailors, and The Wellington Wailers!

The event is not only an opportunity to raise your voices and raise the roof of this iconic building, it also provides an opportunity to collect for two very fine and worthy charities: ‘Olly’s Future’, A charity supporting suicide prevention initiatives and training and The R N L I Lifeboats!
There is also a ‘possibility’ that more informal singing may ‘breakout’ after the formal event, as the groups take refreshment in one or two of the fine hostelries in Shoreham-by-Sea!

Shoreham Light Parade

The Parade starts at 5PM!

A procession comprising a lot local groups including children’s groups, using handmade lanterns, through Shoreham. This in order to raise awareness and money for loneliness in Shoreham-by-Sea. There will be a lovely bunch of people who will both be processing and singing.

The route will start at East street , through to St Mary de Haura Church, down to the footbridge to Shoreham Beach, on to the seafront, then looping back to Shoreham-by-Sea Town Centre.

The Wellington Wailers will be supporting this, so look out for us. We will be singing from time to time in the procession and maybe afterwards when we take some refreshment, in a local pub or two.

Please give this Community event your support if you can.

The Wellington Wailers at The Ropetackle

We are delighted to be Guests of  'The Purple Shoes Band'. on Sat 01 Sep;
An Evening with The Purple Shoes with special guests Bird in the Belly (Laura Ward) and The Wellington Wailers.

The Purple Shoes are a British female fronted Folk Rock band with a Country and Folk Pop twist. Their music is drenched in beautiful melodies and “harmonious lusciousness” with a thumping back beat and double bass. Often compared to Fleetwood Mac with a Travelling Wilburys vibe, The Purple Shoes are honest and raw and they carry you along with the sheer fun they are having. The band planning a different and unique show for the Ropetackle show this year with Mervyn Wallis playing guest fiddle, along with the full band line up.

With support from the fantastic local band Bird in the Belly and the sea shanty vocal group The Wellington Waliers to get you in the mood for music; it is set to be a fantastic night.
Above quote from the Ropetackle web site!  Book early!
